I\’m not even sure what this all means, or why I\’m doing it.

It’s what all the cool kids do. Depending on what you want to do, you can figure out how many people read via RSS, who clicks through, and all sorts of good stuff.
Me, I simply keep track of how many people read my feed (and no, it’s not many 🙂
